SUPA71 conducted the end-project evaluation of the “Sustaining Education for Burmese Refugees and IDPs Phase II” project between March and May 2026. The project was implemented by Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) with support from Caritas Australia in Kayah State, Myanmar, and in Ban Mai Nai Soi (BMN) and Ban Mae Surin (BMS) refugee camps in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand.
The evaluation applied a mixed-methods approach, combining desk review, secondary data review, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and direct observations. Data collection in Thailand was conducted through in-person visits to the BMN and BMS refugee camps, and data collection in Myanmar was conducted virtually. The evaluation engaged a wide range of stakeholders, including JRS staff, refugee and IDP teachers, youth participants, parents, education committee members, local partner organizations, and community stakeholders from both Myanmar and Thailand.
SUPA71 would like to express sincere appreciation to all respondents, community members, refugee and IDP participants, teachers, youth leaders, partner organizations, and stakeholders who generously shared their experiences and perspectives throughout the evaluation process. SUPA71 also extends its gratitude to the Jesuit Refugee Service teams in Thailand and Myanmar, as well as all collaborating partners, for their continuous support, coordination, and collaboration during the evaluation.
