On September 18, 2025, Dr. Kanokwan Suwannarong, Director of SUPA71, and Work Package 6 (WP6) leader of the EU-funded PANDASIA Project, participated in a conference organized by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand (FCCT) titled “Bird Flu and the Future of Disease Monitoring in Southeast Asia.”
The conference brought together leading regional experts to discuss the increase in H5N1 avian influenza cases in Cambodia, the implications for regional health security, and the future of One Health–based surveillance systems across Southeast Asia. Speakers included experts from the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases at the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the World Organisation for Animal Health, Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) in Phnom Penh, and Cambodia’s Communicable Disease Control Department.
Participation in this event is part of SUPA71’s media engagement activities for contributing to the PANDASIA Project’s outreach and visibility. This engagement supported the project’s objective to enhance regional collaboration, communication, and public awareness on pandemic preparedness and One Health initiatives in Thailand and across Southeast Asia.
